The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) is designed to build upon the prior learning of a bachelor’s prepared nurse. The MSN will attract students who seek to increase knowledge and experience to maintain competitiveness and advancement in the local and global healthcare economy.

The curriculum is designed to provide flexibility for learners with online delivery of all courses except for one practicum course (80 contact hours) requiring self-arranged, faculty approved, learning experiences.  The MSN offers two tracks; the Nursing Education track for those seeking to teach in academic or clinical settings, and the Nursing Leadership and Management track for students interested in expanding into administrative and management positions. Those who earn this degree will be prepared for workplace advancement and/or progression to doctoral programs.

Program Requirements: 

  • Program must be completed within 5 years.
  • Students may request that a maximum of six applicable graduate credit hours, earned at any institutionally accredited institution, be applied toward a graduate degree At Rogers State University.  Only grades of “B” or better will be considered for transfer credit.  Graduate work earned more than five years prior to admission to the program will not transfer.
  • Coursework applied to a previously earned graduate degree will not be applied.
  • Students must maintain good academic standing in the program.
    • No more than one “C” grade will be accepted toward the master’s degree.
    • A course may not be repeated more than one time and no more than two courses in the program may be repeated.
  • Grades lower than a C can mean dismissal from the program

MSN Admissions Policy

To be considered for admission into the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program, an applicant must: 

 

Be admitted to Rogers State University. 

Complete an Application for the RSU MSN program.

Submit official transcripts from all colleges, universities, and/or nursing schools attended. 

Hold a valid, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the United States. Note: Any change in the status of the license is to be reported to the Office of Graduate Studies. 

Hold a bachelor’s degree in any field from an accredited college or university. A degree in a nursing or health related field is recommended but not required. 

Must have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or above.

Understand that All MSN courses will be taught in American English. Assignments, tests, papers, and correspondence with instructors are expected to be completed in English. It is the student’s responsibility to secure translation services or transcription services.

Students who are non-native English speakers must demonstrate English proficiency by presenting a TOEFL score of 85 or higher on the internet-based (TOEFL iBT) with a sub-score of 26 for speaking; a DuoLingo score of 107 or higher; or an IELTs score of 6.5 or higher.
